Welcome

Hi, my name is Alejandro Rodríguez Ramos. I have been living in Madrid for the last 8 years, with intermediate periods in Helsinki and Boston.

This site was a bit of an experiment to open up myself to the world in order to find spontaneous collaborations to exchange value.

Background

I've had a somewhat unconventional path to finding my career in the tech sector but i wouldn't change it for the world. Previously, i worked in Finland in the microelectronics area and, a year later, in Spain, in the aerospace sector.

Through participating in various side projects over the years in my spare time, I then decided to pursue a PhD in AI & Aerial Robotics in order to unleash my creativity in the research space.

Interests

In my spare time I create and experiment with small machine learning strategies. Some of which have been outstandingly useful over the course of the PhD.

Currently I'm developing my strategic consulting skills and improving my machine learning technical abilities.

My other interests include music production, personal finance, investing, reading, emerging technologies and business.

Skills

Python⭐️⭐️⭐️

My first "pillar" of my programming skills. I have been using this language for 5 years for prototyping machine learning models and developing training/testing pipelines. Mostly, I use *pytorch [*and numpy] for machine learning development. However, I have Tensorflow and Keras basic knowledge.

C/C++⭐️⭐️⭐️

My second "pillar" of my programming skills. I use C/C++ for prototype deployment in embedded and robotic systems. I mostly use this language for final implementation of the algorithms in a real or simulated robotic platforms, and embedded systems.

Computer Vision⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have been working on Computer Vision throughout my whole Ph.D. development. I am able to research and implement classic computer vision techniques (e.g. OpenCV), state-of-the-art deep and reinforcement learning methods, and others. I am very interested in the usage of synthetic data (simulators, Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), etc.) for agile development, as well as in quantization and other techniques for latency reduction.

Robotics ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am able to research and implement state-of-the-art learning-based methods for robotics control. I have basic knowledge on classical techniques (e.g. PID). I am able to adapt to any other robotics field, but my expertise is mostly on aerial robotics (e.g. multirotors). I have worked with ROS for 5 years.

Hardware⭐️⭐️

Drone piloting (certified pilot), drone assembly, component soldering, 3D modelling (e.g. Blender, Inventor), Game-engines (e.g. Unity, Unreal), 3D printing.

Management⭐️⭐️

Agile methodologies (e.g. SCRUM), remote working software (e.g. Slack, Discord, Asana, etc.), self-organizational (e.g. Tmetric, Notion).
