I had the opportunity to lead a team for the participation in the 2020 Mohamed Bin Zayed International Robotics Challenge (MBZIRC), which is a strongly competitive robotics event taking place in Abu Dhabi, UAE. More than 25 top universities biannually compete in 3 challenges and 1 Grand Challenge. Our team ended up in $3^{rd}$ position for the Grand Challenge.
I had to manage the competition project within the scope of a 9-people team, for the participation in Challenge 1 and the Grand Challenge. It took approximately 1 year of research and development of both hardware and software stacks for the participation in the competition. I was also in charge of the development of computer-vision object detection and tracking algorithms, targeted to be deployed on an Nvidia Jetson AGX Xavier.
A paper of the complete approach has been submitted and it is under review.
